Event Details

A culture that emerges from a violent past must both account for the past and create a future. How can this be done without trust and engagement? Who will take on this ethical responsibility? Jocelyn Glatzer’s docu THE FLUTE PLAYER (2003, 90min) is about “Cambodian Living Arts” founder Arn Chorn-Pond. While most Khmer musicians were killed, Arn was kept alive to play propaganda songs for the Khmer Rouge cadres. As a child survivor of unimaginable horrors, he claimed his ability to speak, and with it the power to make things happen.
