Phnom Penh’s legendary live act Electric Universe returns with a brand-new chapter: The Next Universe. For 15 years, the project (founded by Berlin producer Nick Meta alongside US musicians Tim Sirois and James Speck) has fused live synthesizers, strings, grooveboxes, and DJ culture into hypnotic, psychedelic jam sessions. From stages across Cambodia to virtual performances in Second Life, the band has built a cult following.

Marcel Camus’ BIRD OF PARADISE (1962, 95 min) – a spiritual journey into culture, myth, Buddhism, death, and reincarnation – was the first European feature film production in Cambodia.

Sok, a young and imaginative boy, leaves the Buddhist monkhood to seek a more adventurous life. Tith, a friendly fortune-teller, gives him a bird of paradise, which leads him to the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh.

Samsara is a Sanskrit word that means “the ever-turning wheel of life” and is the point of departure for the filmmakers as they search for the elusive current of interconnection that runs through our lives. “Samsara” (2011, 102 min) reunites director Ron Fricke and producer Mark Magidson, whose award-winning films Baraka and Chronos were acclaimed for combining visual and musical artistry.
