Though directors claim to be primarily visual storytellers, it’s actually quite rare for a movie to be completely wordless.
We have curated four media pieces shot in Cambodia with almost no audible dialogue:
* IVA by Cambodian auteur Polen Ly follows the story of a missing dog in stylish black and white.
* SCARS OF CAMBODIA introduces you to Tut (52) from Kampot. Despite the language barrier, the fisherman recounts for the first time and without any words his past during the Khmer Rouge regime.
* STEP BY STEP documents an international circus festival at Phare Ponleu Selapak in Battambang in 2007, where the foreign guests cannot understand the locals.
* DAVID RYLAND’S CAMBODIA DAILY is a video art piece about daily routines in the Kingdom of Wonder, assembled with videos, photos, and sound.
