Event Details
Cambodian teenager Bora could be the first in the family to get to university. Nikka might make the national team if she just goes the extra mile. Vuthy hides his crushed dreams and dysfunctional background beneath a veneer of bravado and a haze of alcohol. Drinking affects their mental and physical health and their relationships with friends, family and school. Bora’s aspirations appear to be dashed, but is it too late to change? Can Nikka get back on track? Will Vuthy get the help he needs? A dramatic finale asks the audience to consider the choices the characters made, and what their own choices might be in their real-life story. We are inviting you to the world premiere of “Smashed Cambodia” -a powerful film-based e-learning course, tackling underage drinking with positive thinking. Young people have a right to an alcohol education that doesn’t shield from reality or scare with shock tactics. The 30-minute film has been directed by Chum Reap; director, cast and scriptwriter Choun Sopheap will attend the premiere and hold a Q&A. Film will be screened in Cambodian Language with English subs.
