Event Details
When Japan surrenders at the end of World War II, soldier Hiroo Onoda retreats into the jungles of the Philippines to continue the war himself for another 10,000 days. The feature film “Onoda” (2021, 165 min) is an insightful portrait of fanaticism, illustrating how bad ideas can take root simply because people are naturally resistant to change.
Whilst set on a remote Philippines Island the film was in fact shot on location in the Kingdom of Cambodia, in cooperation with Cambodian production house “Anti-Archive”. Director Arthur Harari received an Academy Award for his screenplay of the legal drama “Anatomy of a Fall” (2023), which he co-wrote with Justine Triet.
