Event Details

A small band of volunteers attempt to rescue sex slaves from a Syrian border camp in Hogir Hirori’s gripping, harrowing, superb documentary SABAYA (2021, 90 min). More than 2000 women have been smuggled into and traded by the “radical muslims’ Daesh (ISIS) within Al-Hol, a refugee and internment camp run by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces.

Tense but never sensationalist, the Kurdish-Swedish documentarian Hogir Hirori risks his life to present a scary and sobering look at human suffering – and the efforts of those dedicated to ending it.
