The revival of Cambodia’s rich and unique cultural heritage has fueled the country’s impressive recovery from the Khmer Rouge’s genocide of 1975-79. The video compilation RE.BIRTH (2011, 120 min) includes historical short films about the re-opening of the Royal University of Fine and the development of Cambodia’s contemporary art scene in the early 2000s, video art pieces and early interviews with prominent Cambodian artists who have influenced the country’s art scene and gained recognition both locally and internationally.
