Event Details
After living in Philadelphia, United States, for decades (where she helped raise her grandchildren and sent money back home) Mama Icha returns to her native town of Mompox, Bolívar, Colombia, hoping to spend her final days in the dream house she built.
Óscar Molina is a Colombian documentary filmmaker, producer, and cinematographer. He is most recognized for his sensitive, observational approach to exploring the complex intersection between migration, personal economics, and the concept of “home”.
“La casa de Mama Icha” (2021, 85 mins) serves as his debut feature documentary. Molina shot over 180 hours of footage across 2.5 years using an observational, natural-light cinematography style to intimately document 93-year-old Mama Icha’s reverse-migration journey back to Colombia.
After the screening, Oscar Molina – who is currently based in Keo – will hold a talk. Free Entrance.
