Looking back, going forward: 30/30/30 stories of change This series is composed of 30 stories on the work by 30 civil society organizations and grassroots projects, marking 30 years of Heinrich Boell Stiftung (hbs) presence in Cambodia. With the premise of questioning how people are moving forward under the circumstances, it explores the challenges in the country and people’s approaches on the areas of Gender, Social Justice and Inclusion, Environment and Active Citizenship. How are the youth, CSOs and common citizens breaking barriers and driving change? What kind of conditions are they trying to overcome, and what ultimately is moving them towards a future, better Cambodia?  The event will also include the launching of the hbs publication ‘Profiles of Courage: 30 years of partnership, looking back to move forward’. Not attempting the impossible task of being an exhaustive survey of a country, this series presents itself as a rhizomatic tapestry of stories of people and organizations working every day for the advancement of an idea of Cambodia. Imagining a country where families can work fairly and thrive rather than just survive; where nature is respected and preserved instead of exploited for profit or as a tool for power over the powerless, where every Cambodian — despite of their ethnic group, gender or socioeconomic class — is treated equally and has their flourishing fostered. We look back, as a way to see pathways for moving forward.
