Event Details
In December 1914, an unofficial Christmas truce on the Western Front allows soldiers from opposing sides of the First World War to gain insight into each other’s way of life.
The feature film “Joyeux Noël”(2005, 116 min) – Engl: “Merry Christmas” – depicts the real World War I Christmas truce of 1914, showing French, Scottish, and German soldiers sharing peace, carols, and games in No Man’s Land, highlighting shared humanity.
True, it’s much heavier, grayer, and more bittersweet than the seasonal staples most of us know and love, but what it represents at its core is as miraculous and inspirational as any of those other classics get.
