Step into IRIS — a vibrant exploration of the human mind through colour, light, line and abstraction.

Named after Iris, the ancient personification of the rainbow, the exhibition celebrates the brilliant spectrum of human thought and the fluid pathways connecting our inner worlds with the world around us.

Presented by contemporary American artist Kimberley Gottfried Cleland, also known as Baroness Kimberley Cleland, IRIS brings together two complementary strands of her artistic practice: luminous, large-scale abstract acrylic paintings and intricate neurographic works inspired by the interconnected pathways of the mind.

At the heart of the exhibition is Synaptic Embrace, a striking large-scale work that opens a window into the artist’s psychological landscape. Interwoven pathways, cosmic geometry, vivid colours and bold lines evoke the complex, beautiful energy of the world as she experiences it. Alongside these detailed compositions, richly layered abstractions offer moments of visual calm through the interplay of texture, colour and light.

With a creative career spanning 35 years, Cleland has exhibited internationally, from Singapore and Paris to Barcelona, Rome and Madrid. Having lived in Southeast Asia on and off since 2006, she established her permanent studio in Phnom Penh in 2022, where the cultural rhythms of Cambodia continue to inspire her work.

As the artist describes her process, her paintings are her “brain, completely dumped onto the canvas” — a visual dialogue between intuition and structure, experience and imagination.
