In his historical narrative video essay “Erased Empires: Remembering Sultan Ibrahim & Dutch Colonial History in 17th Century Cambodia”, the Dutch anthropologist and ethnographic filmmaker John ter Horst, travels into Cambodia assisted by cameraman Mark Koller, carrying with them the forgotten journals of Dutch East India Company merchants who once sailed up the Mekong River in the 17th century.

Through on-location footage, evocative animation, and rare archival material, they seek to resurrect two erased histories, that of a reviled Cambodian King, Sultan Ibrahim, and the obscure Dutch colonial presence that clashed with him. Retracing their steps across the Tonle Sap river and the Oudong mountain area, this video explores two haunting questions: Why did a Cambodian Buddhist king convert to Islam? And how did he defeat the powerful Dutch East India Company

The souls of the prisoners who have been tortured and killed during Pot Pot’s regime in the Tuol Sleng museum are hungry. So hungry that guards there say a benefactor needs to come forward and feed them regularly otherwise they are not happy. And, as can be imagined, an unhappy ghost is a problem.

Cambodian dancer/choreograper Yon Davy acts in the arthouse thriller BLOOD RED KARMA (2010, 82 mins) by Antonio Nardone. Through a series of flashbacks, the protagonist Irene tells the story of her boyfriend Marc, who disappeared in Cambodia while researching about mysterious ghost stories.

Synopsis of The Forbidden City (2025)
In the 2025 martial arts action-drama La città proibita, a young Chinese woman named Mei travels to Rome to find her missing sister, Yun. Her search leads her to the city’s criminal underworld, where she crosses paths with Marcello, an indebted Italian chef whose father has also disappeared, seemingly with a

Initially at odds, Mei and Marcello form an unlikely alliance. Together, the pair battles ruthless Roman gangs in an adventure that blends intense martial arts with romance and drama.
