Geppetto’s puppet creation, Pinocchio, magically comes to life with dreams of becoming a real boy. Easily led astray, Pinocchio tumbles from one misadventure to another as he is tricked, kidnapped and chased by bandits through a wonderful world full of imaginative creatures – from the belly of a giant fish, to the Land of Toys and the Field of Miracles. Pinocchio (2019, 125 min) is an Italian fantasy comedy-drama.  It is based on the 1883 novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. If you are a fan of the rich, detailed, almost grimy world of directors like Terry Gilliam (“Monty Python”), then the vision of Italian director Matteo Garrone is right up your alley.
