Event Details
Naval officer Jim (Peter O’Toole) is stripped of his responsibilities when he abandons his ship, leaving the passengers to drown. Disheartened and filled with self-loathing, Jim seeks out to redeem his sins. Significant parts of Richard Brook’s ‘LORD JIM (1965, 154min) were filmed in Angkor Wat and Siem Reap. Cambodian Dith Pran, whose story is told in the movie ‘The Killing Fields‘ was involved in the production as a translator and fixer. Watching the film today, one can see the serenity and beauty of the temples before mass tourism arrived in Cambodia. Also take note of the small village and pagoda in some scenes, that to this day can be found inside the Angkor Wat temple complex.
